About Lapping Discs

Flat laps for slabbing, flat work, faceting prep and finishing — 6" through 24".

  • Nickel bond — hardest cutting action, best for fast flattening and roughing.
  • Resin bond — softer, leaves a smoother surface, made for the mid and fine steps.
  • Sintered discs for long production life.
  • Silicon carbide and Mylar discs as the low-cost route through the grit sequence.
  • Magnetic-back and 1/4"-20 screw-back mounting; steel master laps, acrylic laps and organizers to carry them.
  • Felt and leather discs for the final oxide or diamond polish.
  • 6" and 8" for benchtop laps; 10", 12", 14", 16", 18", 20" and 24" for large machines.
  • Discs work as a sequence: coarse to flatten, medium to erase the coarse scratches, fine to polish. Skipping a step costs you time, not saves it.
