Soft resin diamond wheel

Changing grit when you resurface

When we resurface a soft wheel, you choose the grit it comes back in: any of 14, from 60 to 200,000 plus cerium, at no extra charge for the change. The wheel keeps its size and bore. Only the diamond face changes. It is the cheapest way to add a grit you do not own, or to move a worn wheel to where your set needs it.

How it works

A worn wheel of any grit and any brand goes in, you choose any of the 14 resurfacing grits, and it comes back in that grit in about a week
Send one grit, get back another. No extra charge for the change.

You order the resurfacing service in your wheel's size and the grit you want back. The price is the same for every grit.

Size Price, any grit
2.5" $29.95
4" $34.95
6" $39.95
8" $49.95

The grits you can choose

60, 140, 220, 280, 325, 600, 1,200, 3,000, 8,000, 14,000, 50,000, 100,000, 200,000 and cerium.

Not available as a resurfacing grit: chrome oxide and tin oxide. Those come only on new SuperNova wheels.

SuperNova grits from 60 to 200,000 plus cerium, chrome and tin, in the color of each wheel, with the resurfacing grits marked

Ways people use it

Same grit back. The simplest case: the wheel is worn, you want it again.

Go past 3,000. The Genie, Titan, CabKing and Barranca GP6-6 all ship with soft wheels at 280, 600, 1,200 and 3,000. A spare worn wheel can come back as an 8,000, 14,000, 50,000, 100,000 or 200,000 wheel, which puts a finer grit on a wheel instead of only on the end disc. See grit progression for cabbing.

Add a grit between two you have. 220 and 325 are both available as resurfacing grits, for anyone who wants a step the stock sets do not include. See diamond grit sizes.

Change a whole set. A full set can go out and come back as a different set, one grit per wheel.

What goes on the wheel. Write your name and the grit you want back on the side of the wheel. Not the grit it is now. Choose the same grit when you order, so the two match.

What does not change

  • Size. A 6" wheel comes back a 6" wheel.
  • Bore. It stays 1". If the bore has worn oval, we fit a new bushing.
  • Bond. A soft wheel stays a soft wheel. Hard wheels are not resurfaced, so they cannot be turned into soft ones.
  • Brand of the core. A Nova comes back as a Nova core with our new face. Any make qualifies.

Questions we get

Does changing the grit cost more?
No. The price is the same for every grit.

Can I get chrome or tin oxide on a resurfaced wheel?
No. Cerium is the only oxide available when resurfacing. Chrome and tin come on new SuperNova wheels.

Can I change a Nova 600 into a 14,000?
Yes. Any soft wheel, any brand, into any of the 14 grits.

What grit do I write on the wheel?
The grit you want back.

Can I change the size?
No. The wheel comes back the size it went in.
